Import from Other Agents

Bring your OpenClaw, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex CLI or Cursor setup into Hermes with one command: instructions, rules, allowlists, MCP servers and skills, previewed before anything is written.

After this videoYou can move your Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or OpenClaw setup into Hermes, preview it first, and keep it in sync as the other agent changes.

hermes import-agent comes from the official agent-importers plugin, maintained by Nous Research. Install it once per profile with hermes plugins install agent-importers, or let hermes setup do it: on a fresh install, setup looks for ~/.openclaw, ~/.claude, ~/.codex and ~/.cursor first and offers the import. You always see a per-item plan before anything is written, and --dry-run never touches disk. Global instructions (CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, Cursor rules) become MEMORY.md entries, Claude Bash allow and deny rules become command_allowlist and approvals.deny, MCP servers go to mcp_servers in config.yaml, and skills land in a <source>-imports folder. Credentials are never imported, except OpenClaw keys and bot tokens with --migrate-secrets. Imports merge without duplicates, skip conflicts unless you pass --overwrite, and hermes import-agent --sync re-imports only the sources that changed.
